Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is with great excitement and pride that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed principal of Pope John XXIII School in Evanston. I am honored to be leading the dynamic team of teachers and staff here at Pope John. I come to you with 25 years of experience in education, beginning with 14 years teaching elementary general music in the Winnetka Public Schools, followed by six years of administrative leadership in the Glencoe Public Schools. I taught educational leadership courses at National-Louis University, where I completed my graduate work, and that is where I became connected with the Catholic schools, most recently at The School of Saints Faith Hope and Charity in Winnetka. It was there that I was confirmed as a Catholic, witnessed the power and beauty of a faith based education and can’t ever imagine not leading or teaching in a Catholic school again. The gift of our faith coupled with the best of instructional practices is a winning combination. I am very happy to bring my experiences here to the Pope John XXIII community!
Getting to know students, families, staff and parishioners is my priority as we begin our year together. Please do not hesitate to introduce yourself to me and know that my door is always open. We understand that Catholic school families make a commitment spiritually, financially and completely to providing their children with a faith-based and academically rigorous education. We appreciate your partnership as your child’s expert and we value working together to ensure the best school experience possible for each family.
My official start date is July 1, 2019. Together, with our assistant principal, Mrs. Shannon Larkin, we will be solidifying our staffing needs for the upcoming school year. We will certainly share our faculty and staff assignments with the Pope John parent community as soon as we are able. Please look for a July email update as well as an August email update, with any and all summer news!
We look forward to an exciting year ahead, working as a team to ensure that each student reaches his or her potential while Learning, Achieving, Believing at Pope John XXIII School.
