Promoting Inclusive Education and Best Practices
At Pope John XXIII School, our Student Success Team (SST) is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for our entire student body. Our close-knit school community allows for meaningful, individualized attention. Our SST is composed of administrators and support staff that meet weekly to discuss and review support plans, accommodations, and strategies that benefit all students. By addressing the needs of the entire student population, not just those with specific support plans, the SST cultivates a school-wide culture of empathy, respect, and growth, ensuring every student is empowered to succeed.
Central to our inclusive approach is the Individual Catholic Support Plan (ICSP), which provides a structured framework of accommodations and services for specific students requiring additional support. Similar to a 504 Plan or Individualized Education Plan (IEP) in the public school system, the ICSP outlines specific accommodations to help each student thrive in the classroom. Created in collaboration with parents, ensure that students receive the specific assistance they need to succeed, while teachers gain valuable insights and strategies to address unique learning needs in the classroom.
The SST’s commitment to inclusive practices extends beyond individual plans. In every meeting, the team addresses broader supports for academic growth, behavior, and socialization, providing teachers with resources and best practices that enhance the overall classroom experience. This collective focus equips teachers to create a welcoming and effective learning environment, where all students, regardless of their individual needs, are encouraged and empowered to thrive.
