A: Technology is used intentionally to support learning. Screen time is purposeful and guided by teachers.
Q: Are screens ever used for free time?
A: No. Screens are never used during indoor recess and are never given as a reward.
Q: What happens with cell phones and smart watches?
A; All personal devices are collected each morning to help students stay present and focused, and returned at the end of the school day.
Q: What is the policy for preschool students?
A; Preschool students do not use any devices or screens. Learning is fully hands-on, play-based, and teacher-guided.
Q: How do grades K-5 use technology?
A: Technology is minimal and highly structured:
- iPads for grades K-2 , and chromebooks for grades 3-5, are used for standardized assessments and personalized learning through iReady.
- Screen time is limited to short, structured learning stations.
- Devices are kept in a communal classroom space and only accessed during teacher-led activities.
Q: How does middle school, grades 6-8, use technology?
A: Students carry Chromebooks to each class period, but may only open them when instructed by a teacher.
Technology is used for:

A: We offer tools like speech-to-text and use of audiobooks when they support student learning. These are used thoughtfully with guidance from teachers and support staff to help students build confidence and independence while continuing to strengthen core skills.
Q: How do you teach students to use technology responsibly?
A: We use GoGuardian to support digital citizenship, helping students stay safe online, focused in class, and develop responsible technology habits. Students are also introduced to tools like artificial intelligence in age-appropriate ways, learning their capabilities and limitations while continuing to prioritize critical thinking, creativity, and their own voice.
